Equine therapy and New-Skin

Here’s Gracie saying hello to Sweet Pea, the mare she rides in Melbourne, Florida.  A special thank you goes out to our friends Joellen and Eric Mullins in Ohio, who introduced Gracie to equine therapy.  By the way, guys, Gabrielle now rides with her sister!  On another horse, though.  The only downside is that they ride around dusk, when the skeeters come out.  They seem to love Gracie, unfortunately.  Then she scratches at her bites until she’s bleeding all over the place.  Jeez.  So now we dress her in long pants and sleeves, and break out the Off!.  FYI, for any of you who might have similar issues with your children scratching their sores, New-Skin does the trick!  See http://newskinproducts.com/.

My first post… here we go.

Image

Cool.  My first post and first blog.  Wonder how many millions have already thought and said the same?  Anyway, here we go!  Should be an interesting ride.  Gracie started off our Labor Day weekend with a bang!  Ate a mushroom on school grounds Thursday.  Had to take her to the ER, make her drink fluid with activated charcoal, have her give blood samples, go to a clinic for follow-up blood tests.  The good news is Gracie threw up after drinking almost all of the activated charcoal, and we saw the mushroom pieces in her vomit.  Attached is a photo of Gracie prior to be sick.  Not a happy camper in the ER!

I decided to start this blog as a way for family, friends, and strangers to follow our journey, and maybe learn a few things along the way.  You see, Kristine (my wife) and I have decided to pursue stem cell therapy as a means of intervention for Gracie.  Anyway, that’s all I have time for now.  Will be writing more soon…
